America Responds With Love®, Inc. is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization that engages in many charitable activities throughout the country. We do this by focusing on three specific techniques:
We focus our charitable efforts to help people and communities truly in need that are overlooked by others.
We secure products and services no one else wants and use those resources as we help people and communities truly in need.
We strive to minimize the need to use cash to achieve our charitable goals through the use of in-kind products, in-kind services, and volunteer labor.
We need your help.
While most people have never heard of our organization, many are aware of some of our charitable efforts. It’s simply that many do not know that it was America Responds With Love that was the organization responsible for the charitable efforts. A few examples:
Through one of the programs of America Responds With Love, more than 103,000 people truly in need were provided with emergency housing when no other shelter was available in their communities. Approximately half of all those housed were children. Of the total housed, more than 35,000 were in imminent danger. This program included one of the largest underground railroads in human history. Individuals and families have been helped in communities from the Piedmont in North Carolina to the Iron Range in Minnesota and from the Valley of the Sun in Arizona to the Ohio River Valley.
We re-utilized more than 21,000 stuffed animals and comfort pillows that had been donated to the Town of Newtown in Connecticut. These donated items were used to help children, individuals with disabilities, and senior citizens in communities from Aurora, Colorado, to The Bronx, New York.
During Hurricane Katrina, 5 shelters for women and children were destroyed in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. America Responds With Love provided temporary buildings to re-open 2 of the shelters. We furnished all 5 shelters with furniture as well as provided the refrigeration for these 5 shelters. The temporary buildings were utilized for about one and a half years until permanent buildings could be constructed. The Domestic Violence Unit of the New Orleans Police Department was operated from one of those temporary buildings. The computers needed by the detectives were provided by America Responds With Love.
During the past ten years, we’ve utilized more than 9 million flower bulbs to create gardens in public parks, schools, and other public places in communities ranging from Joplin, Missouri, to Reading, Kansas, and from Moore, Oklahoma, to Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
We strive to enhance educational opportunities in the United States by providing books and computers to people truly in need. Books have been provided in key areas of need from San Diego, California, to the lands of the Crow Creek nation in South Dakota.
We have provided basic necessities to people truly in need when others did not notice the need. More than 20,000 diapers were provided to members of a National Guard Unit to help the men and women serving our nation. (The 800 members of this National Guard Unit collectively had 150 babies.) An electric wheelchair was provided to an older woman with brittle bone disease. A shower chair was provided to a disabled military veteran. Food has been provided to domestic violence victims in Miami to homeless families in Mississippi, from military veterans in Pennsylvania to stranded travelers in Wyoming.
